At present, each class is operating as a ‘bubble’. These groups stay separate at all times, this is to make sure there is no risk of cross contamination. This means that staff are not be able to cross over and those staff who have previously worked with children from different classes are now based within one bubble. This also means that children are not able to access a breakout space as classes have designated times for breaks.
Additional interventions take place in class bubbles, where children remain 2 metres from the member of staff delivering all interventions.
We have chosen to stay within class bubbles to make it quicker and easier to respond to any confirmed cases of COVID-19. In the event of a confirmed case, this will impact only on the one bubble.
Classes are taught within their own classrooms for the majority of the time. Other rooms in use and the measures in place are as follows:
Hall – the children use the Hall on a rota basis for lunches. Tables, chairs and doors are cleaned between each bubble, The Hall is separated into 2 rooms using the partition doors so children are not in the same room as any children from a different bubble.
IT Suite – Each class has 1 week timetabled to use the IT suite in each half term. This is then deep cleaned each Thursday and left for over 72 hours before the next class use the room.
Corridors – Year 3 and 4 use the stairs at the back of the building and Year 5 and 6 use the front staircase. Handrails are wiped and children use hand sanitiser on the way to and from these areas. Classes are not on the corridors at the same time.
